Wednesday, Jan. 28

Highlights:

• Today we shared our Canadian Region posters with our Grade 5 buddies
• Then our buddies wanted us to answer survey questions for their data collection
• We did our first sound experiment called Dancing Salt. Ask me how it worked!
• We wrote the beginning, middle and end to another fable called The Lion and the Mouse

 

Tuesday, January 27

Highlights:

• In math, we used the 100 chart to add and subtract numbers. Did you know that moving up one row on the 100 chart subtracts 10 and moving down one row will add 10?
• We did a visual journal page to show different types of energy.
• In gym, we played a basketball game
• We have been listening to different fables and writing the beginning, middle and end. Today we heard The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Ask me what the moral of the story is?

Reminders:

• For science, we are collecting toilet paper rolls so please bring them in if you have some.

 

Friday, January 23

Highlights:

• In art, we painted the colour wheel to learn about primary & secondary colours.
• We learned a new addition math game with the shaker dice
• We finished our social studies travel posters

 

Wednesday Jan.21

Highlights:

• In writing, we practiced writing sentences that included a noun, verb, adjective and adverb 
• In math, we did a final assessment for data collecting & graphing 
• In social studies, we continued to work on our travel posters to advertise one of the regions in Canada

Reminders:

• If possible, please send a pair of headphones with your child for listening centres. They will be safe at school in their personal bin.

 

Friday, January 9

Highlights:

• We went on a community walk to look for signs of winter. We saw evergreen trees, dead plants, chickadees, and white rabbits.
• We watched the January Moon video and we are going to continue to learn more about chickadees
• For social studies, we learned about the natural resources in the Interior Plains

Tuesday, January 6

Highlights:

• Today we started Mission Impossible in gym (Muhammad)
• We did a 4 square planner for Sneezy the Snowman (Kam)
• We drew a graph to show favourite breakfast foods (Marcus)
• We added a new game called Slapzi for literacy centres (Daniel)
• In social studies we did a page in our journal about renewable natural resources and non-renewable natural resources. (Catalaya) 

Reminders:

• We will be going for a community walk on Friday, so please dress for the weather.

 

Monday, January 5

Highlights:

• We talked about New Years Resolutions. Ask me what goals I set 
• We learned about data and how to make a graph
• We reviewed the regions of Canada and talked about natural resources
• We went to music and chose what song we wanted for rock star training. The winner was called Step in Time
