Wednesday, March 18

 Highlights:

• We read a story called 'If I Built A School' and planned how we would build a school
• In gym we played a fun new game called 9 Square. Ask me how to play!
• In science, we learned about transparent, translucent and opaque light
• We have started to learn new strategies for subtraction. Today we counted backwards using our fingers. For example 19-4, we put 19 in our head and subtracted 4 fingers to get the answer

Monday, March 16

Highlights:

• We wrote a first, next, then, finally plan for how we were going to catch a leprechaun 
• We drew and labeled our plan for making our leprechaun trap
• We built Leprechaun traps & hopefully we will catch him tomorrow when he tries to collect our gold coins!

 

Friday, March 13

Highlights:

• Today we had an Indigenous knowledge keeper share stories with us about how animals were created and she sang a song while we played the drums that she made
• In writing, we finished our story about when we turn 100 years old

• On Monday we will plan and build our Leprechaun traps so please bring in any materials that you'd like to use

 

Thursday, March 12

Highlights:

• Today was the 100th day of School! Here is a list of some of the fun activities we did:
• We played Race to 100
• We tried to see how many times we could write our name in 100 seconds
• We built a 100 chart puzzle with our table group
• We did 100 jumping jacks in 100 seconds
• We saw how many words we could write using 'Today is the one hundred day of school
• We made a picture using the numbers 100

Wednesday, March 4

Highlights:

• We learned about the celebration called Holi and Vedant brought in some coloured powder to share with us
• We wrote about some the 2 day festival that is also called the Colour Festival
• We practiced adding 2-digit numbers using the number line
• We continued to practice floor hockey in gym

 

Friday, March 6

Highlights:

• We used the maker space materials to build the physical regions
• We practiced adding double digits on the number line
• We watched the March Moon video called Goose Moon and wrote a 4 square planner to go with the information
